Mahogany House est née de la volonté des propriétaires de créer une maison confortable et multigénérationnelle sur un terrain de Melbourne. Elle est le lieu de résidence familial de Vish et Gaurav Rajadhyax, cofondateurs de R ARCHITECTURE, un cabinet d'architecture et de décoration intérieure qui a trouvé ici, le lieu pour créer leur environnement idéal, témoin de leur passion pour l'intégration du design dans les environnements suburbains. Le plan de cette maison a été conçu de manière à préserver les racines de trois arbres présents sur le site, dont un acajou et un bouleau verruqueux à l'avant, et un magnifique acajou à l'arrière.
Les espaces sont orientés de manière à maximiser les liens visuels et physiques avec la cour centrale et l'acajou, qui définit l'axe central de la maison, y compris la cour centrale. La maison se compose de deux modules séparés par une cour centrale, agrémentée d'une piscine. Un module de plain-pied réservé aux grands-parents se trouve à l'est. Les deux modules de cette maison confortable et multigénérationnelle à Melbourne sont reliés par un salon d'entrée offrant une vue sur la cour centrale exposée nord avec piscine. Le design extérieur se caractérise par l'utilisation de bardeaux de terre cuite de fabrication locale, un matériau plus couramment utilisé pour la toiture, mais utilisé ici à la fois pour le toit et les murs. Mahogany House was born of the owners' desire to create a comfortable, multi-generational home on a plot of land in Melbourne. It is the family home of Vish and Gaurav Rajadhyax, co-founders of R ARCHITECTURE, an architecture and interior design practice that found here the place to create their ideal environment, a testament to their passion for integrating design into suburban environments. The layout of this house has been designed to preserve the roots of three trees on the site, including a mahogany and a warty birch at the front, and a magnificent mahogany tree at the back.
The spaces are oriented to maximise visual and physical links with the central courtyard and the mahogany tree, which defines the central axis of the house, including the central courtyard. The house consists of two modules separated by a central courtyard, complete with swimming pool. A single-storey module for grandparents is located to the east. The two modules of this comfortable, multi-generational Melbourne home are linked by an entrance lounge overlooking the north-facing central courtyard with swimming pool. The exterior design features the use of locally made terracotta shingles, a material more commonly used for roofing, but used here for both roof and walls.
