Entre forêts de pins et sommets enneigés, la Freja House transporte l'Europe du Nord au cœur du Montana. Conçue par Love Schack Architecture, cette maison en bois inspirée par la Scandinavie mêle le minimalisme nordique à l'efficacité énergétique, offrant un cocon chaleureux et durable à toute la famille de ses propriétaires. Quand Emma et Blake ont quitté Seattle pour s’installer à Whitefish, dans le Montana, ils rêvaient d’un refuge inspiré de l’héritage suédois d’Emma. Mission accomplie avec la Freja House. Elle présente une façade en panneaux préfabriqués vieillis avec le pigment järnvitriol (vitriol de fer) — une technique traditionnelle suédoise —, de grandes baies vitrées ouvertes sur la montagne, des rangements astucieux et des volumes baignés de lumière.
Chaque détail est réfléchi, afin de profiter d' un art de vivre nordique pensé pour le quotidien, mais de l'autre côté de l'Atlantique. Même sa décoration reprend le style scandinave, épuré et facile à vivre avec ses coloris neutres. Si la certification Passive House n’a pas été atteinte, la maison affiche une isolation et une étanchéité remarquables, réduisant les coûts énergétiques à l’année. Plus qu’une résidence familiale, la Freja House, cette maison en bois inspirée par la Scandinavie, incarne une philosophie : marier tradition et modernité, confort et respect de l’environnement.
Nestled between pine forests and snow-capped peaks, Freja House transports Northern Europe to the heart of Montana. Designed by Love Schack Architecture, this Scandinavian-inspired timber home blends Nordic minimalism with energy efficiency, providing a warm and sustainable cocoon for its owners' entire family. When Emma and Blake left Seattle to settle in Whitefish, Montana, they dreamed of a retreat inspired by Emma's Swedish heritage. Mission accomplished with Freja House. It features a façade of prefabricated panels aged with järnvitriol (iron vitriol) pigment — a traditional Swedish technique — large bay windows opening onto the mountains, clever storage solutions and light-filled spaces.
Every detail has been carefully considered to enjoy a Nordic lifestyle designed for everyday living, but on the other side of the Atlantic. Even the décor reflects the Scandinavian style, with its clean lines and neutral colours. Although it has not achieved Passive House certification, the house boasts remarkable insulation and weatherproofing, reducing energy costs throughout the year. More than just a family home, the Freja House, a Scandinavian-inspired wooden house, embodies a philosophy: combining tradition and modernity, comfort and respect for the environment.
