The renovation of a 140-square-meter Haussmann-style apartment in Paris by Atelier Compostelle
Atelier Compostelle oversaw the renovation of a 140-square-meter Haussmann-style apartment in Paris using custom-made solutions
This apartment, located in Paris’s 17th arrondissement, is occupied by its owner, a woman who lives there alone. But she regularly hosts her children and grandchildren there, which called for some adaptation. She therefore called on Amandine Maroteaux, of Atelier Compostelle, to carry out the renovation of this 140-square-meter Haussmann-style apartment.
The studio completely reconfigured the layout of the rooms. The living spaces have been moved toward the boulevard to capture the light from the facade. Its former dining room, reduced to a narrow passageway, has regained a real function in the new layout. The living room is now bright and inviting. Cream-colored leather sofas have been arranged around a round coffee table with a textured black top.
It’s the first thing you see. An entire wall, from floor to ceiling, clad in matte sage green, featuring custom woodwork, open shelves, and low cabinets with rounded corners. Atelier Compostelle has preserved two antique mirrors with carved frames, and the upper cabinets follow their contours.
In the kitchen, which opens onto the dining room, light oak reigns supreme. Simple cabinet fronts, round brass handles, and a countertop and backsplash in Mont Blanc stone with gray-white veins, a motif repeated on the central island. Three white ceramic pendant lights hang above the wooden table. Surrounding it, chairs with light gray backs cut into organic shapes add a sculptural touch that contrasts with the kitchen’s clean lines.
L’Atelier Compostelle painted the master bedroom in a very soft powder pink. A large custom-made wardrobe lacquered in the same shade of pink occupies an entire wall. In the adjoining bathroom, the pink tiles are laid vertically, perfectly complementing the bedroom. Another bedroom features a deep blue, which is also echoed in the main bathroom, accessible to the whole family. The children’s room, with its bunk beds, continues this blue palette.
Here, Atelier Compostelle tailors every choice to the homeowner’s personal lifestyle while preserving the Haussmannian spirit of the space. This was made possible through custom work, carried out in collaboration with Kermarec and Plum Living for the woodwork.
