À La Pedrera en Uruguay, la maison d'une artiste face à la mer garde ses émotions et ses souvenirs. La première rencontre d' Alicia Goñi avec cette maison s’est faite sous la pluie. Mais même si les murs anciens laissaient passer l’eau, son enthousiasme était réel. Elle retrouvait enfin ce lieu découvert à dix-huit ans, dont elle avait longtemps rêvé. Elle s’y est installée avec sa fille, Cala Zavaleta, et a commencé à la rénover. Les travaux ont ouvert les volumes, créé des chambres, un atelier, et de vastes espaces communs. La maison est vite devenue un point de ralliement familial. Cette maison est chargée de souvenirs partagés avec ses enfants qui y reviennent tous les ans.
L'aménagement privilégie le confort quotidien tout en respectant l’âme existante. L’ancien garage transformé en atelier est devenu un second salon lumineux. Les pièces accueillent des œuvres, des objets trouvés, des textiles venus de loin. Un divan ancien rend hommage à la mémoire familiale. À l’étage, la chambre principale regarde la baie et la terrasse ouverte sur la mer. Les fenêtres bleues, les luminaires colorés, les lignes sobres composent un décor apaisant. In La Pedrera, Uruguay, an artist's house facing the sea holds her emotions and memories. Alicia Goñi's first encounter with this house took place in the rain. But even though the old walls let in water, her enthusiasm was genuine. She had finally found the place she had discovered at the age of eighteen, the place she had long dreamed of. She moved in with her daughter, Cala Zavaleta, and began renovating it. The work opened up the space, creating bedrooms, a workshop and large communal areas. The house quickly became a family gathering place. It is filled with memories shared with her children, who return every year.
The layout prioritises everyday comfort while respecting the existing spirit of the house. A former garage, converted into a workshop, has become a bright second living room. The rooms are filled with works of art, found objects and textiles from faraway places. An antique sofa pays tribute to family memories. Upstairs, the master bedroom overlooks the bay and the terrace opening onto the sea. Blue windows, colourful light fixtures and simple lines create a soothing décor.
