An 18th-century Catalan farmhouse, beautifully restored in the heart of the vineyards
This 18th-century Catalan farmhouse has been tastefully renovated in a natural style, respecting its roots in rough stone
In the heart of the Penedès region, 35 minutes from Barcelona, this 18th-century Catalan farmhouse stands amidst 30 hectares of biodynamic vineyards. Professionals oversaw the renovation of Mas Grimosach while preserving what gives it its soul: its authentic architecture, its old stone walls, and its beams.
There has been no radical change to the house’s proportions, which have remained as they were at the time of its construction. The small windows and rather low ceilings have been preserved. Here, the professionals did not seek to erase three centuries of history, on the contrary, they were committed to preserving it.
Inside the house, natural light flows differently with the seasons. In the morning, it strikes the light-colored walls of the living room facing the vineyards. At the end of the day, it glides over the stone steps of the interior staircase.
The house is organized over two levels. On the ground floor, there are two living rooms with distinct purposes. The first opens directly onto the vineyards and is decorated in natural tones. The second is more secluded, more intimate, designed for evenings in front of the TV. Its kitchen opens onto a dining area set on the terrace, with arched walkways. It’s a place with simple decor that lets the architecture take center stage.
The designers in charge of the renovation worked with natural textiles and vintage pieces, using a subdued color palette. The two bedrooms upstairs follow the same simple, elegant, neo-rustic aesthetic. Each features a comfortable bathroom.
Outside, an outdoor dining area, lounge chairs, and a pool overlooking the vineyards have been installed. This outdoor space has been treated with as much care as the interior. It is a true open-air room, comfortable, where you can spend a lot of time.
