In Nacka, this historic house with a lime-green facade, named Björknäs, proudly displays its construction date on the facade. Designed by Karl Blomqvist, its owner and architect, it was built in 1909. From the outside, you immediately notice that it is open to the garden with its generous windows. They create a constant connection between the interior and the landscape.

A tour of the house

The entryway immediately sets the tone with William Morris wallpaper. This botanical pattern creates a welcoming atmosphere and leads us into the kitchen. The kitchen features a refreshed country style, with its wooden cabinets with blue doors and the Carrara marble countertops. From a second entryway, glass doors open onto the bright dining room. Windows on three sides like in a veranda multiply the views. A cast-iron spiral staircase catches the eye and leads up to the tower.

The living room, adjacent to the kitchen, plays on an elegant contrast between gray walls and white woodwork. The space is divided into two areas, with a built-in bookshelf on one side. On the other, the seating area is centered around a cast-iron stove. The upper floor features three attic bedrooms, each with a distinct character. The master bedroom features blue walls and practical built-in storage. It opens onto the large terrace, offering views of the rooftops and the sky. The other two bedrooms, painted yellow and green, are cheerful spaces designed for the children.

The tower is a versatile room, currently used as an office conducive to various creative pursuits. It also leads to the rooftop terrace, which is bathed in light and offers views of the neighborhood. This outdoor space functions as an additional room, designed for sunny days. On the ground floor, the bathroom features a freestanding bathtub full of character. The garden is the setting for this charming old house, with its mature trees, flower beds, and well-manicured paths.
