A 160sqm Haussmann-style Parisian apartment overlooking the Luxembourg Gardens
The complete renovation of this 160m2 Haussmann-style Parisian apartment was carried out by the d'USSEL & DECOSTER agency
Overlooking the Luxembourg Gardens, this 160sqm Haussmann-style Parisian apartment has been completely transformed following its renovation by the agency D'USSEL & DECOSTER. Designed for a family, it blends everyday comfort with understated elegance, featuring a redesigned layout and custom-made furnishings. Located in the heart of the 6th arrondissement, it is housed in a beautiful, classic historic building.
Before the renovation, the layout was fragmented and ill-suited to modern lifestyles. The firm completely redesigned the floor plan to create a logical and pleasant flow. The project serves a dual purpose: to provide a comfortable living environment and to occasionally accommodate sophisticated guests. In just six months, every space found its place, with particular attention paid to detail. The carefully preserved original elements now interact with contemporary choices, creating a subtle balance.
The kitchen stands out as the heart of the apartment and is semi-open to the dining room thanks to a glass partition. The combination of wood, marble, and stainless steel adds depth while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Fixtures and fittings have been meticulously designed, incorporating practical solutions such as filtered water and a discreet sound system. Right next door, the dining room enjoys abundant natural light thanks to the bow window. The eye naturally drifts toward the living room, where an antique fireplace still stands, complemented by contemporary furniture.
Its living room is furnished and decorated with warm, natural materials and simple lines. The leather sofas, placed opposite a wooden coffee table, invite you to relax. A piano and a desk make this room a place to gather for a variety of activities. The moldings, hardwood floors, and high ceilings evoke the heritage of this Haussmann-style apartment with its classic proportions.
In the bedrooms, custom design comes into its own with perfectly integrated storage solutions. Headboards, built-in niches, and desks are designed with space optimization in mind. Light-colored materials and hues take center stage, along with beautiful textiles, making these bedrooms warm and comfortable. Their atmosphere is restful, and the apartment’s bathrooms follow the same contemporary and serene aesthetic. Photo: ©Julien Pepy
