This apartment in Bilbao is truly charming. Carefully decorated, it is brightened by touches of coral, powder pink, and blue-green pastels. Nestled in the Volantin neighborhood, it overlooks a large inner courtyard. As a result, light streams in from every direction, at all hours.
Just 50 meters from the apartment, Campo Volantin stretches its century-old trees along the Nervión River. Plane trees, pines, greenery as far as the eye can see. This natural setting directly influences the color palette: natural wood, neutral tones, soft textiles. The exterior dictates the interior. It’s a design approach we’re seeing more and more in contemporary interiors. Designers refer to this as “urban biophilia”: visually integrating the surrounding nature into the design of spaces.
The living room is a spacious area. No clutter, no excess. This large living area is decorated in soft colors, with coral tones accented by touches of green. This green is carried over into the kitchen, on the walls, and creates a sense of freshness when paired with white furniture. In the bedrooms, these choices are consistent with the other rooms: rattan, wood, coral, and green. It’s a simple yet successful design, perfect for those who love easy-going spaces and color.
Terrace or balcony? Either way, it’s easy to settle in. A table and two chairs are all it takes to enjoy the outdoors. This terrace serves as an extension of the living room, a transition between the well-appointed interior and the Bilbao sky.
And then, discover the city that has found a new lease on life following the construction of the Guggenheim Museum. And if you venture further out, it’s to enjoy the Basque Country, the ocean, the sea air, and the waves. What a wonderful plan in store!
